The organization drives meaningful reform and systemic change by addressing the silent epidemic of domestic violence, advocating for enhanced crisis intervention and training, and ultimately transforming both individual lives and societal responses to abuse.

EMPOWERING

By providing comprehensive public education and fostering a network of support, Survive & Tell empowers individuals to move beyond coping, understand the signals for help, and actively participate in their own healing and recovery.

SUPPORTIVE

Survive & Tell creates a nurturing environment where victims and survivors of domestic violence receive essential social support, including counseling, community resources, and survivor groups to help them rebuild their lives with dignity.

OUR MISSION

Survive & Tell is dedicated to guiding victims and survivors from coping to healing by addressing and breaking the cycle of abuse. We focus on creating a supportive environment where individuals can rebuild their lives with strength and dignity.

Our approach includes comprehensive public education to increase awareness about domestic violence and its many facets. By equipping communities with this knowledge, we foster a culture of empathy and proactive intervention.

We also offer robust social support through a network of community resources, including local partnerships, counseling services, and support groups. These efforts empower individuals to move beyond coping and thrive, backed by a network committed to their well-being.

OUR APPROACH

Survive & Tell was initially founded to raise awareness about officer-involved domestic violence. As we grow, we have widened our outreach to drive meaningful reform through the power of survivor voices. Established in 2019 and proudly affiliated with the United Way Agency, our mission has always been to address the complex and deeply ingrained issues surrounding domestic violence, which we recognize as a silent epidemic affecting all individuals, not just those involved with law enforcement.

Our approach is to build strategic partnerships with organizations committed to social justice, understanding that domestic violence is a multifaceted issue influenced by societal norms, systemic failures, and cultural attitudes. While we are dedicated to addressing these issues comprehensively, our focus is not on vilifying any specific group but rather on providing solutions and support to combat domestic violence across all communities effectively.

As a 501(c)(3) organization, Survive & Tell aims to educate the public on the broader spectrum of domestic violence and advocate for systemic changes to protect and support survivors.

A SILENT EPIDEMIC

Officer-Involved Domestic Violence (OIDV) occurs when a law enforcement officer is involved in domestic abuse, creating unique challenges due to the abuser’s authority and potential institutional protection. This can leave victims isolated and hindered from seeking help.

Domestic violence, a widespread and silent epidemic, affects individuals across all demographics and involves various forms of abuse. The silence around this issue often comes from fear or shame, preventing many from recognizing the signals for help and seeking support.

Survive & Tell aims to vocalize and bring awareness to these traumatizing experiences by addressing both OIDV and domestic violence more broadly. We focus on creating robust social support systems and increasing awareness of the signals for help. Our goal is to break the cycle of abuse and ensure that survivors receive the comprehensive support and visibility they need.

OUR VISION

To effectively address Officer-Involved Domestic Violence (OIDV) and general domestic violence, we need enhanced crisis intervention and specialized training for law enforcement officers. Proper online education on recognizing abuse, understanding its dynamics, and effective intervention is crucial. Integrating these training programs into regular professional development is essential for equipping officers with the knowledge and skills to handle domestic violence cases sensitively and effectively.

We need a commitment to implementing these solutions and fostering strong community partnerships. By prioritizing education and crisis intervention, we can reduce OIDV significantly and rebuild public trust in law enforcement. This comprehensive approach will ensure that officers are better prepared to respond to domestic violence cases and support survivors effectively.
